Summer Accommodation
Summer accommodation in 2024 will be available only to university students, or graduates who completed their studies in this academic year.
In July, accommodation can only be rented on a contract spanning the entire calendar month, for prices listed in the 2024 Summer price list.
In August, accommodation is only available until 22 August, 2024 (the price will be calculated pro rata). Accommodation after 22 August 2024 is only available to those CU students who selected a room during the regular accommodation procedure, and who received a confirmation of accommodation.
Summer accommodation will be available in all dorm blocks that are also available during the academic year, except High-rise Block B.
If a guest accommodated during the academic year wishes to stay for the summer without interruption, they are entitled to stay in the room they occupied during the academic year. Those accommodated in High0-rise Block B interested in staying over the summer will need to move to another room. The academic year deposit of 100 € remains on the guest’s account.
Summer visitors are charged 11.50 € per night. Visitors who are no full-time students at a Slovak university, nor covered by any exceptions according to Bratislava city by-law no. 4/2023, must also pay an accommodation tax of 3 € per night.
Students who completed their studies in the current academic year and will not continue their full-time study in the next academic year shall pay an accommodation tax (city tax) of 3 € per night in accordance with the Bratislava city by-law. The accommodation tax is due at the same time as the accommodation fee. Other students are exempt from the accommodation tax.
Pursuant to the city by-law, students who are in the final years of the second level of study at Comenius University, continue to third level of study, and are interested in summer accommodation, are required to submit a confirmation of further study. Students graduating from either the first or the second level of study at other universities are also required to submit a study confirmation if they wish to stay over the summer.
1. ACCOMMODATION FOR PRIVATE REASONS
Between 1 July, 2024 and 22 August, 2024 accommodation for private reasons is based on the commercial price list.
Guests who continue staying in the same room from the academic year during the summer
Accommodation must be reserved using the reservation form, no later than on 9 June, 2024. Subsequently, a reservation is created and the guest receives payment information. Payment for the month of July must be made immediately after receiving the email, and the guest also needs to visit the accommodation department to sign the summer contract and submit a confirmation of payment.
If the guest fails to sign the contract and pay the accommodation fee before 13 June, 2024, the room reservation from the academic year expires.
Guests who want to reserve after this date will be charged a late reservation fee in accordance with the valid price list.
A paid-up reservation can be cancelled free of charge before 23 June, 2024. A cancellation fee will be charged if the reservation is cancelled after 23 June 2024, in accordance with the valid price list.
Guests accommodated in High-rise Block B, who are interested staying over the summer need to visit the accommodation department or contact it by phone (if you want a larger selection of rooms, wait until after 9 June, 2024) to have a different room reserved and to receive further instructions. Guests shall move to their new rooms no later than 11:00 a.m. on 4 July, 2024 (subject to room availability).
Students interested in summer accommodation at CU Mlyny who were not accommodated there during the academic year, or who checked out by the end of June
Students need to reserve summer accommodation using the reservation form (to be published after 9 June, 2024) no later than 72 hours before their planned check-in. Students shall then immediately pay the summer accommodation fee by bank transfer using the payment information provided in the confirmation email. A deposit of 100 € is payable in addition to the accommodation fee.
Check-in:
- 1 July, 2024 between 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
- workdays from 2 July, 2024 between 7:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m at the accommodation department
At check-in, present your ID or ISIC card and an accommodation contract will be created for you.
Cancellation of a paid-up reservation is possible free of charge until the end of the month preceding the month for which the reservation is made. If the reservation is cancelled in the given month, a cancellation fee will be charged according to the valid price list.
2. ACCOMMODATION OF STUDENTS WITH OBLIGATORY STUDY ACTIVITIES
Accommodation during the months of July - August related to study is based on the price list.
Accommodation is offered to full-time regular and PhD students at Comenius University whose study programmes involve obligatory study activities that are directly related to the study programme at Comenius University (e.g. practice).
Accommodation contracts of PhD students who are currently accommodated expire on 31 August, 2024 and they do not need to apply for summer accommodation.
The accommodation fee is charged proportionally according to the length of the educational activity indicated on the confirmation (number of nights). A deposit of 100 € is payable in addition to the accommodation fee.
The student must reserve summer accommodation through the reservation form. Subsequently, the summer accommodation fee must be paid by bank transfer according to the instructions in the confirmation email, and the confirmation of payment and confirmation of obligatory study activity must be sent to mlyny.ubytovanieuniba.sk. The confirmation must clearly state that the obligatory study activity is directly related to the study programme at CU.
Students who are not currently guests can check in on the next workday before the start of the study activity and check out on the workday following the end of the study activity. At check-in, present your ID or ISIC card and an accommodation contract will be created for you.
3. ACCOMMODATION OF STUDENTS WHO STAY FOR STATE EXAMS AND FINAL THESIS DEFENSE
Accommodation is only provided for up to 3 days and 2 nights (the day before, during and after the state exam) for 14.00 € per night. A deposit of 50 € is payable in addition to the accommodation fee.
If the date of your state exam is:
- on Monday, you can check in on Monday from 7:00 a.m. or on Friday by 2:30 p.m. (you only pay for the night from Sunday to Monday, or for the night following the day of the state exam, i.e. from Monday to Tuesday).
- on Friday, you can check out on Friday by 11:00 a.m., or on Monday between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (you only pay for the night from Friday to Saturday, or for the night before the state exam, i.e. from Thursday to Friday).
Students need to reserve summer accommodation using the reservation form no later than 72 hours before the planned check-in (scan and append the faculty’s confirmation of the state exam or final thesis defense date). Students shall immediately pay the summer accommodation fee by bank transfer using the payment information provided in the confirmation email. Guests can not choose dorm unit or room, which are assigned by the accommodation department.
You can check in on workdays between 7:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., at the accommodation department. At check-in, present your ID or ISIC card and an accommodation contract will be created for you.
